Taking the leap and signing up for IVVO Ecuador (2025) was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I have been in the Veterinarian industry for over 20yrs and never have I had the chance to be a part of any life changing causes, until I was given the opportunity to be a part of a spay/neuter campaign this past October in Olon, Ecuador.

It was during this enjoyable/beautiful experience that Dr. Scott Bainbridge and Dr. Audrey Shen from Australia introduced me to IVVO. They both took the time to explain this wonderful project, that allows you to lend your helping hands to animals in need from different parts of our world. I felt an immediate connection to their beautiful work and wanted to know more on how I could help.

This is when they told me about their upcoming trip to Australia where I would be face to face with kangaroos, wallabys, wombats, echidnas, sugar gliders and more!!! I knew it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to be around and assist some of the most exotic animals on earth. They explained how they wanted to educate and bring awareness to people about their magnificent wildlife and the care that they require.

After hearing about the stories on how they provide medical assistance and rescue injured animals, my mind was set and I was ready to take on this new adventure. I never realized just how much of an impact this mission was going to have on me. I didn't only learn about the animals; I was introduced to different parts of Australia and met some wonderful people on this journey.

I created an unexplainable bond with this magical Continent, the furry friends and with the dedicated humans, that will keep my heart full until the end of time. A million thank yous for these unforgettable memories💛

IVVO provides a fun and rewarding experience and I will definitely be joining them on another adventure.

My son and I joined the IVVO group on their recent trip to Ecuador.  It was a truly amazing experience.  Scott and Audrey were warm and welcoming, the group of people we volunteered with were wonderful, and the Ecuadorians we met were kind and very thankful for our help.  The sterilization campaign in Ecuador has made a huge positive impact in the region we were in.  IVVO provides a fun and rewarding experience and I will definitely be joining them on another adventure.

Working with such a diverse range of wildlife has broadened my RVT skills and deepened my love for veterinary medicine.

Volunteering with IVVO (Australia 2024) has been an extraordinary experience. Founded and operated by the dedicated Dr. Audrey Shen from Sydney, and Dr. Scott Bainbridge from Ontario, Canada, this organization provides and unparalleled opportunity to work with a variety of communities; from rewarding Spay/Neuter campaigns in Ecuador, to work with wildlife and exotic species in a truly hands-on environment! In Possumwood Wildlife Sanctuary, established by the inspiring Prof. Steve Garlick and Dr. Rosemary Austin are a beacon of hope for severely injured and traumatized native animals. The self-funded facility not only focuses on the recovery of these animals, but also engages in crucial research to better understand their behaviour. The dedication of the voluntary staff, including veterinary nurses, assistants and visiting veterinarians, who work tirelessly to care for 400-500 wild animals each year, is nothing short of heroic! The fully equipped veterinary hospital at Possomwood is a testament to the power of private donations and community support. Being a part of this year's team has allowed me to witness the incredible power of collective efforts. Working with such a diverse range of wildlife has broadened my RVT skills and deepened my love for veterinary medicine. Every day here has brought new challenges and many rewards, making this an invaluable experience. So, what are you waiting for? Check this off your bucket list. Come fill your bucket!

My daughter and I had an incredible journey to Olon, Ecuador with IVVO

My daughter and I had an incredible journey to Olon, Ecuador with IVVO in May. Not only did we get to participate in meaningful work assisting in spay and neuter surgeries with street cats and dogs, but we also connected more with each other, the local community, visited fascinating historical sites and met like-minded people who shared our love for nature and culture. The IVVO team made everything easy, ensuring we had a truly immersive experience. It was an unforgettable trip that blended adventure, history, and genuine human connection. Highly recommend it!
